Rarotonga is one of fifteen islands that make up the Cook Islands in the Polynesian triangle. Rarotonga has one road that loops the entire island and is only 21KM around. There are a handful of bakeries you pass while driving the loop but STJ Bakery takes the icing.

On the jungle side of the main road Ara Tapu in the Arorangi district on the West side of the island sits this quaint little bake shop.

Their menu includes everything from breads, sandwiches, specialty coffees, desserts and beyond.

I decided to try the Oreo Cheesecake as it was a different than what was available at other restaurants around the island. The cheesecake was light with an crumbling Oreo crust on the bottom, the cheesecake was tangy but balanced nicely with the whipped cream. STJ’s Oreo cheesecake isn’t complete without an Oreo dusting and full Oreo cookie on top.

This cheesecake was very filling and I would recommend sharing with a friend or having them pack it for take away so you can save half for later.

Rip off a piece of cheese bread for a snack at home or on the go!

A trip to STJ bakery isn’t complete without also trying their cheese bread, for only $2NZD / loaf this is a great snack to have while you ride around or to enjoy after you snorkel at the beach.
